Being a small business owner can be very exciting. But it can also be troublesome when you are trying to find ways to attract new clients or customers.
Hiring a marketing professional is one way to go about it, but many small, micro or solopreneurs simply don't have the resources to hire out.
So, what can we do instead?
Check out these 5 Tips that can help you as a Small Business Owner attract more clients or customers.

1. The first thing is to secure your Domain Name. We talked about this in a previous post (which you can read here), about why it is so important to snag your domain even if you don't have immediate plans to create a website.
2. Create Social Media Accounts for your business. If you don't currently have any, look into which ones might be best suited for your type of business.
Most everyone can benefit from a Facebook Page. If you have products that you sell, seeing images or videos of them might be helpful to potential customers. Instagram (reels) or TikTok(videos) might be a good fit. It will allow you to showcase and show off your items much better than a simple picture ever could.
3. Using apps that can help you be more productive and save time is essential. For example, using a bookkeeping app such as Quickbooks can help you to keep track of your expenses. Using a Social Media manager/scheduler to help you keep up with all of your social posts can be a time saver.
Finding creative design apps to help with promotional materials, blog posts and more is necessary. I mentioned Canva in a previous post, but there are also other design programs such as Adobe Illustrator & Procreate.
Companies such as VistaPrint can help you design & print business cards and other promotional materials with just a few clicks.
4. Email Marketing is a tool that businesses use every day. Just look at your email inbox and you will see loads of emails from businesses you may (or may not) have already had contact with.
One thing email marketing does is that it keeps those who have shown some interest in your business, in contact with you. It allows you to promote directly to a person who has already shown an interest in what you have to offer.
Email contact keeps your company name/product/or service in the forefront of your customer or client's mind. It allows you to reach out directly and share important information such as promotions, sales, or new products.
A couple of sites that can help you to manage your email lists are Mailchimp, Mailerlite & Convertkit to name a few. They have forms you can create and share on your website & social media accounts. The forms allow you to collec names and emails of possible customers. Once you have that list, you can then create and send emails to everyone (if you so desire) at once.
5. Networking has always been an important tool in business promotion. Whether it is personal referrals or connecting with other businesses that can help spread the word about your product or service, it is a vital part of getting your business name out there.
One way to network is to join groups on Facebook that are somewhat related or would be a good partner for your business or service.
Another way to network is to join in-person groups such as your local Chamber of Commerce.
Reach out to other businesses that you think might be able to benefit from your product or service or whom you may be able to give or receive referrals.
While this list just scratches the surface in regards to Things You Need to Know as a Small Business Owner, I hope this is a good starting point.
